    How do I solve the HTTP 500 Error?
    Before you say "you can't, its server-side"...

    I've spent a couple hours looking it up. All I found were solutions that didn't work and fixes for the web servers themselves. Obviously the most common answer is exactly what the error displays "An Internal Server Error." This is a problem that can't be fixed.

    That is not my problem. I'm currently using a laptop within the same network. The desktop cannot display ANY web-page in ANY browser, it only displays the error. The computer does have internet connection though; I can download updates, listen to Pandora Internet Radio, and host servers.

    The computer is running Vista 64-bit. The browser I'm using does not matter as I've tried all the most popular ones. If it really matters that much, I use Firefox as my primary browser. I've tried to scan for viruses and have done multiple restarts, a registry scan, and have reset just about everything to default settings.

    The last known time the web-browser was functioning was earlier this morning. I did not make any downloads nor setting changes, only did my normal email and news checking. Two hours later I came back and opened up Firefox to find nothing but this error on every single page (Google, Facebook, Yahoo, MSN, Amazon, Blogger, Twitter...you name it).

      I think you are on the right track - go with ASP.NET. I have worked in IT for awhile, and constantly get hits on my resume' on Monster for ASP.NET development. While it is true that Ruby on Rails is supposed to be the hot thing now, I have not yet seen in in corporate America. I used to work at one of the largest financial corporations in the world, and they used JSP, (Java Server Pages), so that may be another good one to learn. If you are looking to get a career in IT, it is best to stick with what industry is using, rather than go with what's hot. It takes big industry a long time to adopt newer languages and technologies, so sticking with the market leaders is the safest bet.

      1) You want to stay away from dot net languages - they only run on Microsoft servers (and real servers running Chilisoft, but no one is going to buy Chilisoft for you).

      2) You use Javascript for client-side programming. PHP is a good choice for server-side programming. You need both. The page itself is done in HTML (the content) and CSS (the look). You use SQL (on the server) to communicate with the database.

      You could use Python, but ALL (real) web servers run PHP - not all of them will be running Python (or Ruby on Rails). You can also use Perl, but PhHP is easier and can do the same things.

      This is what I LOVE about YA.

      I'm having this same problem feeling like I'm some dummy or did something I shouldn't have cyber-wise, or picked up a virus, etc.

      And now I don't feel that way. You just confirmed that this is one of those 'glitchy' cyber deals (how's that for computereze?)

      I'm also just clicking the 'back' button and then repeating my action and more than 80% of the time it's working properly.

      Patience and repetition may just be needed here until the glitch works out. Maybe YA or YAHOO is trying to do some upgrading or something. At least we can be thankful that they don't shut down totally while upgrades are being made.
