We are taking a family trip to Las Vegas, but are unsure of what hotel would be the best for us. We want one with a great pool, but not too outrageous in price. QUESTION:
Las Vegas Hotels for family with 12 and 15 year old girls.?
We are going to stop in Las vegas for a couple of nights after visiting California and I'm interested in 3 different hotels and wondering which one is best for my girls ages 12 and 15. The Excalibur, New York New York or The Paris. The Excalibur sounds more "kid friendly" but I like the looks of the Paris. Any advice on the restaurants at each hotel, rooms, pools and activities? Thanks!!-
ANSWER:
I have only stayed at Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. But Excalibur is definitely a great kid-friendly hotel. We took our two daughters last year and they were 2 and 6 at the time. My brother went with us and he was 12 and he loved it. There is a great arcade (Midway) downstairs with fun, affordable carnival games that are easy to win. We ended up walking away with a trash bag full of stuffed animals and pillows. The Tournament of Kings dinner show was their favorite. It is per person but it includes a great dinner of game hen, broccoli, potato wedges, a pastry, and unlimited pepsi. They have 4 pools, one is devoted to adults only. Another one has small waterslides and a small waterfall, the water doesn't go deeper than 3 or 4 ft I believe in any of the pools, but its like that in most of Vegas. There is a food court that includes Quiznos, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Krispy Kreme, and Starbucks. Restaurants- they have an Italian restaurant that is very affordable, a steak house that is a little more expensive, an average buffet with great prices, Dick's Last Resort, and Sherwood Forest Cafe which is a 24-hour Denny's type cafe, I love going there for breakfast.I don't know much about NY NY but they do have an arcade and the roller coaster, but it is directly across the street from Excalibur so you can visit those attractions without having to stay there. Excalibur is connected to Luxor by indoor walkway which is connected to Mandalay Bay by what some say is the best shopping mall area in Vegas, Mandalay Place. MGM Grand is also across the street and next door to MGM Grand is the Showcase Mall with M&M World and Coca Cola World. Below them is Gameworks, a huge arcade.
Excalibur also has the best value on the strip. The hotel is not a luxury hotel, but it is really a decent hotel. If you upgrade to the Widescreen room (- more per night) you wouldn't even know you weren't staying in a luxury hotel. It has beautiful warm decor, a 42" widescreen TV, and marble countertops in the bathroom. Check the best rates here http://smartervegas.com/hotels/excalibur/promotionalcodes.aspx
If you don't see a deal you can use, just keep checking it because they update it often, also sign up for email offers from Excalibur.com.Hope this helps!

QUESTION:
the best FAMILY style hotel in Las Vegas?
I am looking for a FAMILY style hotel in las vegas. I do not want the singles or party crowd, its for a family, relaxed trip. I want to be on the strip, so what are some good family hotels and not labeled "singles" or party ones. ok thanks
first off, I didnt mean with kids, I meant family style with adults not the party singles scene.-
ANSWER:
Stay away from Circus Circus 9 (too many kids), Harrahs and Planet Hollywood are geared more for singles. Anywhere else on the strip is fine. Most of the party hotels are off the strip.

QUESTION:
What is the best Hotel in Las Vegas?
Over the summer my mom, my three brothers, and propably two friends and I are going to Las Vegas. I am 14 my and my brothers are 13, 12 , and 8 my the friends are 14 and 12 and I was wondering what is the best hotel for us. Best Pool best location to walk around and see things just overall best kid or family hotel.-
ANSWER:
With that many people you would definitely have to have at least 2 rooms, they only allow 4 per room. For a more affordable option, I would recommend getting adjoining rooms at Excalibur. It is a big castle and has a midway in the basement. The Midway is an area full of carnival games like balloon darts and skeeball that are affordable and easy to win. The prizes are stuffed animals, pillows, etc. They also have the spongebob 4D ride and the Tournament of Kings dinner show which features knights on real horses in jousting competitions. The standard rooms are not very nice but you can upgrade to the widescreen rooms for a nicer, more modern feel. They include widescreen tv's. You can usually find rates around /night so for 2 rooms it could be just /night. Find great rates here http://smartervegas.com/hotels/excalibur/promotionalcodes.aspx
The pool area is actually very nice with a total of 4 large pools and a couple of hot tubs. One pool and hot tub is for 21+ but it is the smallest and shallowest pool, so no big deal. One of the other pools has a waterslide that is fun.
Excalibur is connected to Luxor and Mandalay Bay so you will be able to view the Egyptian theme of Luxor and easily walk or tram over to Mandalay Bay to visit the Shark Reef. Right across the street from Excalibur is NewYork NewYork that has an arcade and a roller coaster and MGM Grand with the Lion Habitat. I would get a bus pass for 1 or 2 days and go to Circus Circus and visit the Adventuredome which is an indoor theme park, and the hotel also has Circus acts. I would not recommend staying there because as a hotel it is kind of a dump and it is far away from everything else (not within walking distance).
To help you picture things here is a map of the strip http://www.vegas.com/lounge/map.html and here is a list of kid-friendly attractions http://www.vegas.com/attractions/kids.html

QUESTION:
What is the best hotels in Las Vegas to stay at for teens?
I'm a teenager and this summer my family wants to go to Las Vegas. We are looking for a hotel that has attractions (like some fun entertainment for teens), a pool, and a casino. We want it to be very nice and fancy looking, good staff, clean, and not too expensive, etc.. I've been to Circus Circus before when I was 8 or so and I had a really good time, but I'm 14 now and we have been planning to stay there but there are a lot of bad reviews of it. Its gonna be me, my parents, my baby brother, my grandparents, and my cousin (who is 19) so it really family orientated. My mom also doesn't want it to be too far away from the airport (like she doesn't want it to be like 1hr away). Also, at Circus Circus there is like a carnival and a train to go to the circus and stuff like that, if there is another hotel thats fun like Circus Circus then please mention it in your answers. Thank you.-
ANSWER:
No other hotel with what Circus Circus offers but check out our local newspaper www.lvrj.com and click on entertainment. You would enjoy the Forum Shops at Caesars, Fashion Show Mall, Shark Reef, Madame Tussauds Interactive Wax Museum, etc. There are NO casinos for anyone under 21. That includes clubs and bars.

QUESTION:
What's the best hotel in Las Vegas for whole family (with 2 kids, 5 and 13 yrs old)?-
ANSWER:
I noticed several people mentioned Circus Circus for staying with kids. Circus Circus is good for the children, but it is a horrible dive! There are several nice places that offer things for kids to do, like the South Coast (it is at the south end of the strip, not walking distance to Las Vegas Blvd). Excalibur is good for kids; New York, New York is good. I would visit Circus Circus, but I would not trust the safety of my family there.

QUESTION:
Best places for kids in Las Vegas?
I want to take my family to Las Vegas sometime next year. Which hotels are best for kids(under 5 yrs)? Are there any hotels on the strip that offer child care, kids activities, etc?-
ANSWER:
My suggestions, for a "family" LV vacation..1-Orleans - It's on Tropicana and off the strip, but, the Orleans is a great spot for families...Low cost/very nice, large rooms/nice pool/Kids Tyme-child care for ages 3-9/ 18 screen theater/great variety/value when it comes to food selection/etc...The Orleans will price match any online rate you find. http://www.orleanscasino.com - 1-800-675-3267 - One of my favorites and IMHO the best value...
2-Excalibur - On the corner of Tropicana and LV Blvd(strip)...The Fantasy Faire Midway is great for small kids, they treat the little ones like gold...My little girl loved it when she was 3 and 4>had to buy 3 bags one year to bring home all the stuffed animals she won...She's 15 now and of course prefers shopping and pools
...The show at Excalibur is a terrific family show - Tournament of Kings - The pool is a nice one for small kids or adults..I don't recommend Circus Circus(for small kids or families)for teenagers the AdventureDome makes for a great days fun. MGM isn't as kid friendly as it was years ago when they had the amusement park, someone mentioned the wizard of oz at MGM, that is long gone...They do have a Lion Habitat and the kids can have their pictures taken while holding a Lion cub...The Lions at MGM are a little more interesting than the White Tigers at Mirage because they have handlers in with the Lions to keep them active...
A few family activities you will not want to miss>I taking into account you have small children and not teenagers, my list would be different in that case...
Fountains of Bellagio- The kids will love this one/so will the adults!
The Masquerade Show in the Sky at Rio - kids love it AND they can actually dress up and take part...Free to watch-there is a charge to ride in the parade...
wildlife habitat at the Flamingo -
shark reef-Mandalay Bay
White Tigers - Dolphins-Mirage
Fremont Street Experience- down town, not first on my list for small kids, but you might check it out and see what you think..The show only lasts about 5 minutes, starts at the top of each hour after dark...Or "Sunset Stampede" at Sam's Town>later shows are better/lasers show up better after dark...
Forum Shops-Caesars Palace lots of kid friendly stores - an aquarium - two animatronic shows
This is the best site for info on LV. it will give you activities/times/prices/reviews/etc on everything
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com check under "VEGAS INFO" >activitiestravel sites for room rates
http://www.travelworm.com
http://www.i4vegas.com
http://www.vegas.comYou ask about child care, we took a different approach and it worked out well for everyone...We took our own babysitter with us,(grandma-cousin in college-etc).We paid for air/hotel some food and expenses when entertaining our little girl..It made the trip much more enjoyable for everyone...The girls could go shopping while I took her to the carnival midway or a show...We could go out to dinner/show/gambling...She could go to the pool early, we could sleep in...We took turns, or all went together, it really worked great for us...

QUESTION:
What is the best hotel in Las Vegas?
So I want to go to Vegas for my Bday, which is in 3 months.. i have been to vegas only once with my family and we stayed at Circus Circus.... this time i am going with a couple of friends, so i want to get a room in a nice hotel... but i just dont know which one to pick!!
Please help??? Thanks! =D-
ANSWER:
Its too much of a personal choice to proclaim the best hotel because everybody wants something different from a hotel.Having stayed their a few times I would recommend the Flamingo. Reasonable prices because it is not brand new and therefore not charging top dollar, good pool area to chill out in during the day, great position in the centre of the strip within walking distance of many places and on the monorail route for many others. I am sure others will think other hotels are better. But this one has a lot going for it.

QUESTION:
whats is the best hotel in las vegas for kids?
whats the best hotel for a 14 year old to go to. with his family-
ANSWER:
I would avoid Circus Circus! It is a dump, and the location is awful. Yeah, the amusement park can be fun, but you can enjoy that without having to stay there.Excalibur is a decent place with good rates, some kid/teen-friendly attractions, and it's in a good location. You are near NYNY with a coaster and arcade, and the movie theater and GameWorks are across the way near MGM. NYNY itself would also be a good choice.
Off the strip, The Orleans is a very family-friendly resort.

QUESTION:
Best Places to Eat in Las Vegas?
My family is taking a trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon in August. We're staying at Best Western McCarran Inn in Las Vegas which is about 1 mile from New York, New York and Luxor. We're going to be in Vegas for 2 days and looking for some decent priced places for dinner (we will probably do McDonalds or something for lunches). We want to try to spend less than per person. Any suggestions on places to eat near there? Also, about how far is Paris hotel from where we are staying if anyone knows??? Thanks!-
ANSWER:
On Koval behind Ballys there is a place called Ellis Island. Their restaurant is called "Restaurant". The food there is very good at great prices. They have an off menu steak dinner for .00 and it is really great. All their food is good. You have to order their fresh brewed root beer from their brewery. Yummy.

QUESTION:
I was wondering the best hotel to stay in Las Vegas for a bunch of twenty-somethings.?
I have been to Vegas before and stayed at the excalibur (only b/c it was so cheap). I wanted to go back in April for my 26 birthday and was wondering a hotel that would be good my friends and I (ages 23-28). I wanted a hotel that is in a good location and does not have to many families and not outrageously expensive ( though I am willing to spend some money). It is going to be a pretty even mixture of girls and boys, couples and singles. Thanks for all your help.-
ANSWER:
Assuming you aren't looking to slum it, I would say The Palms. Since it is off the main strip, make sure you or one of your friends rents a car so you can get around with ease. There are plenty of ways to waste money in Vegas, but cab fares shouldn't be one of them, rental cars are cheap there.

QUESTION:
family vacation to Las Vegas?
Has anyone ever gone to Las Vegas for a family vacation? What would you say is the best hotel to stay at if you have kids?We are thinking of planning a vacation to Las Vegas this summer for our family, our kids are twins age 14, 11 yr old and 8 yr old although by summer our 11 yr old will be 12 and our 8 yr old will be 9.
I was thinking of maybe Circus Circus. If anyone has been with their family and can give me suggestions that would be great.
Anything else I should know, I've only been there once when I was 19 so I couldn't even do much then!
What do you do with your kids if you want to go down to the casino and gamble? Can we have our older boys babysit in the room for our younger son or how does that all work? We want to do a lot of fun things with the kids but me and my husband will also want to do a little gambling on our own.
Also how do you find cheap flights? Everything I have looked at is expensive yet everyone is always telling us how cheap it is to fly there.
thanks
busy mom we are in Connecticut so no driving. We used southwest when we went to Disney.-
ANSWER:
I'd really rethink this. A few years ago Vegas was promoting itself as a 'family destination', but they've changed their tune. There IS some stuff for kids to do ... but not enough to fill a whole vacation, and Vegas is blisteringly hot in the summer. We spent a few days in Vegas a few years ago, when my daughter was almost 11. (We were heading for California, but happened to get a really cheap flight into Vegas.) We stayed at the Orleans (off the strip a bit, but a nice hotel. I haven't heard/read much good about Circus Circus. It's cheap -- and it's cheap.) We spent a day walking down the strip and seeing the sites (most hotels have at least one 'family-friendly' attraction -- white tigers and King Tuts Tomb and jugglers and dolphins and such) and a day exploring other area sites (Red Rock Canyon, and some local museums.) I didn't gamble, but hubby did a bit. (Kids aren't allowed in the casinos, though, since you can't get anywhere without walking through the casino, they let you 'walk through' as long as you keep moving. If you do this, you can leave your kids in the hotel room if you both want to gamble.)
Again .. if you end up in Vegas for a short stay, you can find enough to keep the family entertained. But I honestly wouldn't recommend it for your family vacation.
EDIT: Unless there's something new that I'm not familiar with, the Pirate show BigMama mentions below hasn't been around for years. What used to be a fun, family friendly, free (and very crowded) "Pirates vs. the British Navy" show outside one of the big strip hotels is now "Sirens vs. Pirates" an R rated display of 99% naked women 'fighting' the pirates. Definitely not for all ages.
http://www.treasureisland.com/pages/ent_sirens.aspBTW, wanted to add last night that OUR favorite part of the trip was the food. We'd done the research and picked the BEST buffets. (Not the cheapie 'stuff your face for ' ones, but the gourmet ones. We ate ourselves sick.

This september I am going to Las Vegas with my family and about 5 other families. There will be many kids there and I'm not sure what we could do with them. The kids are ages 20, 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 11, 11, 10, 7, 7, 6, and 5. So, as you can see there are alot of kids going (even though the 18, 19, & 20 yr olds aren't really considered kids, they cannot gamble or drink). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we could do with them, or what the best hotel to stay is. Also, we want to stay on the strip. Thanks in advance!

HELP:Hotel Decision in Las Vegas (Luxor/Rio/Flamingo)?
We'll be traveling to Vegas for 3 days from the 5th of august. We are a family og 2 adult and 4 teenagers. We have never been in Vegas before. We have found 3 "hot deals" for the accomodation. Which would you recommend between:1) Luxor: Pyramid Spa Suite: Luxor MVP Offer, 382,00 USD per room for 3 days excl. tax
2) Flamingo:GO Luxury with Strip View, 360,00 USD per room for 3 days excl. tax
3) Rio:Premium Studio Suite, 348,00 USD per room for 3 days excl. tax
(also taking into account the quality of the pool facilities)
Thanks for any and all responses!
Best regards Orla Olsen, Denmark

ANSWER:
Here is a pretty good map of the striphttp://www.lasvegasmaps.com/stripmap.html
You can also use Google Maps to get Satellite Pictures.
You can not appreciate the Scale of the Hotels until you have visited.
The price of the room depends on the Day you Check in (Weekends are more expensive).
I see no problem with the prices you have been quoted. They seem to be "in the Ballpark".
The type of room you request makes a difference in the rate as well. A suite may work out better for a large family. I can only asume you are looking at getting a couple of rooms as 6 in a room would be cramped unless it was a large suite.
After visiting the maps you may want to reconsider your Hotel Choices to include more Hotels.
You can always check Hotels.com and Expedia.com to see if you are getting a fair rate.
Then you should go to the Hotel owned property and see what kind of deals they offer.
You should have plenty of time to find what is best for you. Keep in mind August is Scorching hot so most people choose to visit in a cooler time of the year. There may be more deals popping up. It's a fine line between booking early enough to ensure you get what you want and booking too late and not getting in on the best opportunity.
As far as teen activities go you'll find a list here (It's where I refer family when they come to town)
http://www.kidsinvegas.com/activity-guide.html
As far as my own family goes they like to Stay at the Mandalay Bay (This is because the company usually springs for the trip and the kids like the Pool so they don't stay with us).
I can also recommend that you check out http://www.ratelasvegas.com/
They do "Trip Reports" where people write about their experiences with different Hotels and Activities.
You may still end up choosing one of the Hotels you have on your list. But there are so many more choices so make sure you are making a good decision.
You have some time before you need to make a final decision.
Hope you have a good time. Vegas is something you need to experience once in your life.

QUESTION:
Will the job market in las Vegas improve soon in the future?
I'm a undergraduate student at University Las Vegas and my major is Hotel Administration and Casino Gaming Management and I'm planning on going for my Masters Degree in Hotel Administration.I'm originally from Southern California and am going to school in Las Vegas I plan to move out to Vegas after I'm finished with school so I can start a whole new life (career / family etc. ) I'm 25 years old and hope to land a job in one of the major strip hotels like Wynn resorts, Sands, Harrahs, or MGM Mirage.
By the time I finish school which will be probably around 4 years from now since I'm a double major and plan to go for my Masters, will their be anyone that will be hiring for my career field? What are the best resort companies in Las Vegas to work for?
Will housing still be affordable in Las Vegas or will the prices rise in the future? I really want to start a family once I have a good career in Vegas and be financially stable. What are good areas in Vegas to buy a home?
I'm just asking because I don't know Las Vegas that well. Any help! Thanks
-
ANSWER:
Haha, well you asked the right person. I currently live in Las Vegas, and hate it. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but I can answer those questions due to info I get at work.Home prices anywhere in the valley are still dropping about 40% a year, but I'm starting to see the decline rate slowing from month to month. I'm predicting most of Las Vegas will bottom out around spring of 2012. Investors and corporate buyers are getting rich right now here. Many have bought foreclosed houses and made a 0,000 profit just fixing them up a little and selling them 2 months later.
The unemployment rate here is among the worst in the country, probably only beat by Michigan. It'll take around the time until you graduate to recover, so it's probably perfect timing.
The Sands is gone though. The Venetian is there now.

QUESTION:
Should i have my wedding in LAS VEGAS?
what do you think of a small 35-40 person wedding, with close friends and family, 2 bridesmaids 2 grooms men 1 maid of honor 1 best man, im from the east coast, so we would have to travel far, but we would save ALOT of money ALOT!, even with a honeymoon, wedding, reception, plane, hotels, it wouldn't be tacky, cheesy, the place is so nice on a lake, and the package comes w/ everything, limo videographer photographer bubbles minister doves when we kiss flowers for the grooms men bridal party ..etc. everything, you would need, we wouldn't even have to lookthe only thing we would need to get are invites, dress, tuxes
should i do it?
Has anyone ever been to or had a las vegas wedding?-
ANSWER:
I had a slightly bigger destination wedding from east coast to Lake Tahoe. Mine ended up about 65 people, but my hubby's family is in CA. It worked out great, but you have to be realistic about potential problems in doing this. The biggest is that "stuff happens", and you will likely lose some folks along the way, even if they say now that they'll be able to go. It's just the nature of a destination wedding. But I agree that your plan sounds good. One thing I'd recommend is getting online reviews of this place, mainly by googling it, if it didn't come recommended by someone you know. You probably won't uncover anything horrifying, but you may learn about some problems others had and you'd want to ask about these and make sure they'd been resolved.

ANSWER:
I love Tropicana. I love old time Las Vegas when it had real charm & class. Tropicana has five-acre tropical pool paradise with three swimming pools and whirlpools, cascading waterfalls and lush foliage. In the summertime, swim-up blackjack tables enable guests to partake in gaming action while soaking up the sun. The room have balconies which I must have. You can get a top notch view of the strip.http://www.vegas.com/resorts/tropicana/

QUESTION:
Las Vegas Wedding Arrangements?
We are planning to get married in Vegas in October 2009 and a few friends & family have expressed interest in coming along too. What would be the best way of organising this? Is it better to do a group booking on-line direct with Hotel & the Flight separately or book both together, or to contact a Travel Agent to arrange it all for us? Also, when would be the best time to book this - ASAP or next year nearer the time?
There will be approx 12 people inc 2 kids & we will be flying from Manchester, UK and staying at either the MGM Grand or Mirage (cant decide which 1 yet).
Any advice from anyone who has arranged a Wedding in Vegas would be appreciated. Thanks-
ANSWER:
If you are planning on getting married in a major hotel, work with the wedding coordinator to get a block of rooms set aside at a discount rate. They will handle all of the details for the wedding, reception and the rooms. We were married at the Top of the Stratosphere and only had to show up dressed in gown and tux. Everything else was taken care of for a 45 person wedding. We couldnt have asked for anything more.

QUESTION:
Which hotel would be best?
I'm planning to go to Las Vegas in late March with my family and my two kids.(12 and 16) I can't decide which hotel would be best the Golden Nugget,Flamingo,Mandalay Bay or the Excalibur. Our budget is about 00 for the whole trip. Also if you have any other suggestions I'd like to know. Thanks!
The pool at the Golden Nugget is open year round and so is some of the Mandalay pools.
I know the Excalibur is more 'family-friendly' but the hotel didn't look very nice and the rooms looked dated.-
ANSWER:
I would choose Excalibur in your situation. While Vegas isn't really family-friendly per se, Excalibur is one resort that caters more to families than some others. There are things for older kids/teens to do in there, and it's also across from NYNY, which has an arcade and coaster.Really, they are all decent choices though. Golden Nugget is probably the nicest downtown hotel, but downtown isn't going to be a lot of fun for the teens. The pool also won't likely be open yet, and it's a big draw at Golden Nugget. Flamingo is nice enough, and has a great location - again, not a ton for kids to do and the pool is closed in March. Same for Mandalay - the pool area there is GREAT, but it won't be open either.
So I'd choose Excalibur - it's a nice enough place in a decent location, and most likely to keep your kids happy. Check out the Tournament of Kings dinner show there!
EDIT:
The pools may be open earlier, weather-permitting. But they are not year-round pools.
Excalibur rooms are a bit dated, but they've been updating lately and aren't too bad. They're clean, and well enough appointed. It's not by any means the nicest place on the strip, but it's fine.

QUESTION:
Easy 10 Points!!!1?
Hey family, I need to know of some cheap to reasonably priced hotels on the Las Vegas Strip!?!? Also could you answer the following:1) What you thought of the rooms (i.e. size, cleanliness)
2) Which location is the best area to stay in?
3) Aside from the casinos, what else is there to do at night and in the day?
4) Which hotel has the best buffets? And which ones doesn’t have one at all?
5) Any recommendations?Thanks in advance for everyone's help!!1
-
ANSWER:
Hotel costs depend on availability and popularity. Stratosphere, Sahara, Circus Circus etc. are pretty cheap to be on the strip but sort of dated. If you want something newer and a bit nicer but for a good rate; I'd go with Excaliber, Monte Carlo, NYNY or even Luxor. Rates fluctuate everyday. It really depends on how much you're willing to spend for certain amount of time.2.) There's nothing wrong with the northern end of the strip but south is where you wanna be.
3.) Shopping is great of course; Fashion Show mall, the Forum Shops at Caesars, Miracle Mile shops at Planet Hollywood, Town Square etc. There's a place where you can simulate sky diving. The nightlife on the strip is great; 40/40, PURE, LAX, Poetry. You can get free movie premier tickets, free and discounted show tickets. Gordy Brown is pretty good. The wax museum at the Venetian. Cosmic bowling is pretty fun late night.
4.) I personally like Fiesta and the Rio has a great buffet a person though. Bellagio and Caesars i know don't have buffets.
5.) Any place you go, you;ll have a blast. If you're not afraid of heights, check out the Big Top at the Stratusphere. BEAUTIFUL view at night.

ANSWER:
- For what you're looking for. I highly recommend The Flamingo..which I see as the overall BEST VALUE casino on the strip, if possible get the upgraded GO Rooms, and to save money..book directly through the hotel..and just keep checking the rates, second you see something drop..call them to get it readjusted..or if you really luck out like I did..rebook...then use their Best Rate Guarantee..so they match and drop it 25%(I saved like 0 per room)If you're going with family (and have members under 21) I suggest Circus Circus. Good Value, but a little off strip. Excalibur has a better location on strip and is also family friendly..but I think there is more to do for kids at Circus Circus.
1) What you thought of the rooms (i.e. size, cleanliness)
- The room size was comfortable for 4, could easily fit 6-8...10 at most. Clealiness...very clean as they are newly rennovated rooms...42" LCD Tv, tv in the bathroom...nice.
2) Which location is the best area to stay in?
- Not sure what you mean..but just get the Go Rooms. But this location of the casino is THE BEST. It's right dead center strip, and unlike the other casinos..you don't have to deal with random walkways and escalators to get inside/outside the casino. The second you leave the casino..you are ON the strip..
3) Aside from the casinos, what else is there to do at night and in the day?
- At Night...Watch a show..I recommend Cirque Du Solei..they have broadway in New York, Cirque Du Solei is only in Vegas..I recommend O, Mystere, and Ka. Also go clubbing and hang out at the lounges. Get dinner at one of the MANY great restaurants in Vegas..Mon Ami Gabi is my personal favorite...sit outside and watch the Bellagio fountains during dinner. Also watch the Bellagio fountain and mirage volcano show on the strip..its free and its fun..the sirens of ti is LAME.
-Day Time - hang out at the pool, get some sun, maybe hit up the spa/gym, do the hoover dam tour if that intrests you (not me), and of course SHOPPING!...fashion show mall and cesars forum shops are the two best.
4) Which hotel has the best buffets? And which ones doesn’t have one at all?
- I think they ALL have some kind of buffet. IMO Spice Market at planet hollywood is the BEST value...and Bellagio has the best variety and food...Spice Market is real close to bellagio, but not as nice..but significantly cheaper.
5) Any recommendations?use these websites:
www.cheapovegas.com - great reviews on all the casinos, their clientele, restaurants, pools, service, etc.
www.yelp.com - Great reviews by REAL PEOPLE (not critics), on all things in vegas and outside vegas too...you may have to take some reviews with a grain of salt.
www.jackcolton.com - this website is AWESOME for the night life...reviews on clubs, hints, tips, as well as contacts for the clubs directly..no middle men.and lastly
www.napkinnights.com - in case you need an idea of what ppl are wearing out at night.HAVE FUN!!!
~G
p.s. Considering you have about 5-6 questions in a single question, not really an easy 10 points, but I'll try for it anyway =P.

QUESTION:
wedding not timed on the best date..???? help.?
So heres the story. My husbands buddy he works with is getting married on halloween of this year (so in about a month) Him and his fiance have been staying with us for the past week to get a house to rent. So I have only known her for about a week, either than that I really don't know her or any of her family. I've known him for a few months but haven't had much conversations with him. My husband and him are really good buddies and he had asked my husband to be in the wedding.
Okay, well here is where the issues come in. We are in southern california in the desert and the wedding is in Arizona. We would have to drive down to the wedding (about 6 hours) and also pay for a hotel to stay at during our visit.
Seems simple right??
Well a few weeks later, the 15th of November is the Marine Corps Ball. I have been looking forward to it for the longest time and was super excited of going. My husband is in the Marines and has been working his butt off and we wanted to go to the ball to have fun and use that time as a vacation in a way. The ball is in Las Vegas so we would either be driving or taking a flight. (Most likely driving) Everything is pretty much paid for since they did tons of car washes all we have to do is buy the tickets which is about 0 per couple (hotel rooms are paid for) and the gas money of course. So what do you think?? The wedding or the ball? Help. Thanks. and if the ball then how should I decline the wedding invite? I feel bad about it but budget wise we can't afford both if they are weeks apart from each other.
Thanks!
thank you for taking time to read my question!
-
ANSWER:
Did your husband accept a position in the wedding?
If he did, it would be wrong for him to bail out on his "really good" friend with short notice.
A wedding is once in a lifetime and I would think this ball is an annual event (or maybe once every few years).Just because YOU aren't close friends, shouldn't come into play, this person is a good friend of your husband and your husband was asked to be in the wedding. You ought to go to the wedding.
HOWEVER, if your husband declined being in the wedding - then you & he should choose which one you are going to go to.

Destination Wedding... Help!?
My Fiance and I are going to have a destination wedding, and that's about all we know. We are thinking about Hawaii, Jamaica, or Las Vegas. Something none of our family has ever done before rather than the ol' church. We we have around 30 of our closest family, from grandparents to the youngest being 3. In September on 2011. We are a tad concerned about flights, pass ports and hotels/resorts. We would like to figure it all out for everyone and give them all information so they are not confused. We would like it to be most simple. Preferably a package straight through a hotel or resort. ANYTHING YOU HAVE WILL BE HELPFUL. lINKS TO WEBSITES, HOTELS, RESORTS, INFORMATION FROM YOUR FAMILY OR PACKAGES OR SPOTS THAT ARE BEST. pASSPORTS, PRICING, FLYING OR DRIVING. I literally have nothing done, and would like not to have to go through a planner. I'm at scratch and could use any help.. thanks! =]-
ANSWER:
Las Vegas can be one of the world's most exciting and romantic places to get married. Thousands of couples get married here every year; some have eloped and some have meticulously planned their wedding day down to the very last detail, making their special day a true destination wedding. For decades, couples have eloped here on the spur of the moment. There are no blood tests involved; all you need is a marriage licence which you can get from the Downtown Marriage Licence Bureau at 201 East Clark Avenue Las Vegas.
There are many wedding chapels to choose from, including Graceland Wedding Chapel, Candlelight Wedding Chapel and Little Church Of The West Wedding Chapel. You can even have a drive thru wedding ceremony! Now that would certainly be a different kind of ceremony!
For my own wedding one day, I would love to have an elegant wedding at Mandalay Bay. Their chapel is called Chapel by the Bay and is set on the edge of an 11 acre tropical lagoon. A lot of the big hotel casinos have their own chapels where you can get married. You could even have a medieval themed wedding at Excalibur Hotel Casino. The hotel casinos have different wedding packages available to choose from.
Your wedding ceremony can involve just the two of you (the wedding chapels should be able to provide witnesses) or a large number of guests; it's entirely up to you. If you want a true destination wedding, then considering Las Vegas can make your special day even more fun, exciting and wonderful!
http://www.thunderwave-events.com/2009/12/destination-weddings.html
Vegas weddings are sometimes perceived as cheesy and cheap, but the weddings held at Las Vegas hotels are classy and can be more expensive than the average wedding across the country. However, it is a great way for a bride to cut her costs because she can limit her guest list without upsetting anyone. She can plan an elegant wedding that is fun for everyone and it will barely be recognizable as a Vegas wedding. There are many great photo opportunities in the city and some of the most amazing restaurants in the country are located right inside of the casinos. If you are looking for a great place to host a destination wedding, consider hitting Sin City.
You other choice for a destination wedding is the beach. Many beach resorts offer all-inclusive packages that provide couples with a ceremony, a reception dinner and décor, and honeymoon accommodations. This is a great way to have an intimate wedding surrounded by those who love and support you the most. Many places even include the cost of accommodation and travel for your immediate family and wedding party in the package cost. You can have an organized, stress-free, and budget friendly wedding that everyone will love and remember for a long time to come. For a great budget wedding, consider heading out-of-town.

QUESTION:
Am I Crazy For Not Letting Her Do This?
Recently... well as of 6 months ago I separated from my wife of 5 yrs. I moved back to my home town of Las Vegas and she stayed where we were stationed while serving in the military (Portsmouth,VA). About a year ago while my wife was station on a ship where she met a younger man that was at the moment more appealing to her than I. When it came to my attention I fought for her for months (a act a husband should never really have to do for his wife) until one night she decided that it would be best to stay in a hotel with the young man. I'm 27, she's 33, and he might be 24.. this went on for a year mind you and because of the circumstances I don't really care to know his birthday. The infatuation may have been more on her part being that she is a mother of 3, married and very hot tempered. I'm thinking the kid may have had a lot more to offer her in than I being she was on the ship with him and spending weeks away from me and our family. In this time the children that are old enough to understand what being said around the house start to turn on me (step children) My 3 y/o daughter (at the time) seemed to be my only advocate outside of the family I had in Las Vegas some 3,000 miles away. I was going out of my mind with anger. She wouldn't touch me. She would lie to me about where she was going and who she was going to be with. One night I had one of the worst pain in the upper right quadrant of my abdomen and had to drive myself to the emergency room because she was invited to this kids house for a party. That's when I knew it was time to leave. I was able to work out taking my daughter with me to Las Vegas. She is the only thing keeping me from being behind bars. Off and on my wife has second thoughts about weather or not she was wrong about what transpired and proposes we work things out. Being that I believe in marriage as much as I do I usually consider it, but thats usually when the young man pops right back up again outa nowhere and fucks it all up
. And that's what brings me to why I'm asking if I'm crazy. About a month ago my wife came out here to Las Vegas to celebrate our daughters birthday. While she's here I show her the houses here in Vegas and she's liking it the market is perfect for anyone trying to get into a nice home FYI. She flies back and over the next few weeks she is pushing the idea of us working it out. I listen to her as I always do. I have my doubts because her track record hasnt been very good. She never really commits to these sudden changes when they come, and I basically don't want to get myself into a 4-5 bedroom house if its inevitable that only 1-2 of the bedrooms will be occupied. I make this point to her and she flips. It works I call her back the next day and have a list of homes we could work on getting. Within 24hrs the young man has shown up. Fixed her car, taken her to a movie, and sat on the couch that I paid for while she made him dinner. She stone walled me. Told our kids to lie about where she was. My oldest slipped and told me she was home and in less than 30 seconds later told me she didn't know where she was. She turned off her cell phone, unplugged the house phone and wont return my text or calls.. Am I crazy for just calling it quits and moving forward with my life? Should I subject myself to this woman any longer being as volitile a relationship its turned into? And thirdly being that this young man had created such tension between my wife and I should he really be in the picture if she is trying to move forward with our Marriage? Let me know, because she has a way with words that makes me feel like I may be in the wrong for not sitting back and letting her and this young man do whatever they want.-
ANSWER:
It seems to me your to much of a pushover... she's manipulating you into thinking she has changed she is obviously full of crap .... people don't change over night... you seem like a really good husband; Nowaday's it's rare for people to try to patch there marriage up your putting in the majority of the effort from what I am getting from this short story. Honestly I don't think she deserves you. When your firm and stand your ground she want's you when you cave in to what she want's she starts messing with this guy again. she's 33 year's old and need's to act like an adult. It's sad that she has her kids lying for her that's pathetic and horrible parenting skills. It's already ruining the relationship you have between you and your children. I'd say move on and stay close to yoru children they matter most...she's a lost cause... AND YES HE SHOULD be out of the equation if she want's to so-called make things work...which is BULL...good luck sweet heart let me know how it goes

Please Help Me, First Time Planning Vacation?
I've never had to plan a vacation before. I've always gone on family trips. But now, my boyfriend and I are planning a trip, just the 2 of us, to Las Vegas for our 10th anniversary. We are looking at going from October 27th- November 4th. Our anniversary is the 3rd, and we want to go to the UFC fight on the 29th, that's why we are looking at staying for 8 nights- to encompass both events. We're flying out of Rochester, NY.First, we can't decide what hotel to stay at. We would love to stay at Trump, but it's pretty expensive (cheap for a 5 star, I know... but we want to be able to have fun while we're there and not spend all of our money on our hotel room since we don't plan on being in the hotel too much anyways). What are the best 4 star hotels to stay at, in your opinion? We don't give a crap about the pool, we just want a nice, clean, quiet room to stay in that's walking distance to the action on the Strip. Doesn't matter if there's a casino in the hotel or not, as long as we can walk to some. I'd like it not to be overrun with children/families if possible, but we're 27 so we don't want a teenage party hotel either.
We'd also like to visit the Grand Canyon for a day but NOT ride a tour bus. Can we take our rental car and still be able to see the West Rim and the Skywalk? Will it cost an arm and a leg to see it this way?
Lastly, does anyone have a restaurant suggestion for our anniversary night? We want to go somewhere where the food is delicious, but it doesn't have to be all fancy and frilly with ingredients we've never heard of. Just a nice, normal, but awesome place... if you know what I mean.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. I'm drowning in the details of this trip!
I've looked at Trip Advisor, Priceline, Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, Hotels.com, Hotwire, and Kayak, thank you. I'm looking for more one-on-one advice for MY situation. And I don't need to be told to "get a grip"... there are many other details I'm trying to figure out myself, these are just the "big" things that I would like some assistance on if people are nice enough, which clearly some aren't.And I don't think a sweater/air conditioning will be an issue- I live in NY, we have snow 6-8 months of the year, haha. 50 degrees means it's time for shorts and t-shirts. But thank you for some valuable help.
Thanks, I appreciate the responses. To the one who said 8 nights is too long, I disagree. You've gone many times. This could very well be the only time we get to go, so we want to see everything. We have diverse interests and aren't just going for gambling and strippers. We want to see all the hotels, the free shows and attractions, go to the nearby national parks, etc etc etc. We don't live in a big city, so this will all be new to us. Thank you for your other tips, though.-
ANSWER:
If you don't need all the frills stay in what is referred to as old vegas, it's the older hotels but they are mostly nice. Stay away from Circus Circus Hotel and Treasure Island if you don't want to have lots of kids. The high end hotels have nice restaurants and good food, there is a lot to do but if you want to catch a show you may want to buy the tickets before you get there in case it's sold out but you can get into most things while there.
Take a sweater the air conditioning is brutal in the hotels.
You may want to rent a car and take a drive into the desert or up the mountain but if your going up the mountain take a coat they have snow.
Vegas is an amazing place and there is so much going on you will never see it all in 8 nights.
If I recall correctly the Grand canyon was expensive to go to by car the helicopter ride over it was more reasonable.
Have fun and congrats on your anniversary!

ANSWER:
1. Since LA is so spread out, there is no single place that is close to EVERYTHING. Most people who come here tend to stay in Hollywood, Santa Monica, or Anaheim.
2. There are literally hundreds of things to do here in LA. Here is my list of “must sees” for families with kids. Visit as many as you have time for.:Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Half a billion visitors can’t be wrong. #1 Destination.
Universal Studios: A theme park that grew out of a studio tour. #2 Destination.
Even if you don’t visit Disneyland or Universal Studios Tour, Downtown Disney District and Universal City Walk are very fun places to visit for shopping and eating. And they’re free to visit. If you’re adventurous, try the indoor skydiving (www.iflyhollywood.com). It’s a blast!Hollywood: Hollywood Boulevard is ready for its close-up, thanks to years of urban renewal and renovation. Most kids won’t really like the Walk of Fame or Chinese Theater, but they might enjoy the people dressed in costume who stand in front of the Chinese Theater. They will pose with you or the kids, and expect tip money. Right across the street is the El Capitan theater, which was restored to its former glory, is owned by Disney and shows Disney movies.
Other theme parks include Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain, which are both more geared towards the fast-ride teen crowd.
Olvera Street/Union Station: Olvera Street is the birthplace of LA, and it emphasizes our Mexican heritage. In addition to the Avila Adobe (oldest building in LA), you can eat at some pretty good Mexican Restaurants, do a little shopping, and taste a churro. If you don’t want to go to Tijuana, this is as close as it gets without going there. Union Station has great architecture from a bygone age. Also, you are 2 blocks from Phillippe’s (see below).
Santa Monica Beach and Pier: Great beach scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies. (The Sting and "Three's Company" come immediately to mind).Bubba Gump Shrimp Company right on the pier. Kids love the rides on the pier, and the games. Or just playing in the sand.
Griffith Park - Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, Pony Rides and Griffith Park Railroad, Merry-Go-Round, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage. While the zoo is not as good as San Diego Zoo, it is still good, and enough to entertain most kids. The Pony Rides and railroad are for the younger kids. Travel Town is a rail museum where you’re not SUPPOSED to climb on the engines, but kids have been ignoring those signs for 40 years. The recently renovated Observatory is a lot of fun. Or you can just play in one of the picnic areas in the park. There are plenty of toys to play on.
Los Angeles Science Center: A favorite museum for kids for over 40 years. Exposition Park, by the Coliseum.
Discovery Science Center, Santa Ana: The big cube right next to I-5, exit Main St.
Los Angeles Children’s Museum: Located in the Hansen Dam Recreation Area, currently under construction. Original location near the Music Center is closed.
La Brea Tar Pits/Paige Museum: What kid doesn’t like dinosaur exhibits?
Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach: Lots of fun marine exhibits for kids to explore. And the mac and cheese at Bubba Gump’s across the street is good, too.
Legoland, Carlsbad: This is more of a San Diego attraction, but kids 10 and under generally love it.
Places to Stay:
Since LA is so spread out, there is no single place that is close to EVERYTHING. Most people who come here tend to stay in Hollywood, Santa Monica, or Anaheim. In Hollywood, I recommend the Orchid Suites, Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, or Holiday Inn Walk of Fame, all near Hollywood and Highland. In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced. In Anaheim, I recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. There is also a nice place in Burbank called the Best Western Media Center, very close to Warner, NBC, and Universal Studios.Places to eat:
In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger in LA, ask anyone.
Pink’s Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. You might even see a celebrity. Maybe.
Tommy’s Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. The original location is at Beverly & Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown.
Canter’s Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly & Melrose. Near CBS, you might spot a celebrity.
Phillippe’s: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station and Olvera Street. Watch the mustard, it’s hot.
Tito’s Taco’s: Voted best tacos in LA, even though it’s in Culver City. King Taco is a good alternate if you can deal with East LA.
The Pantry: Corner of Figueroa and 9th, downtown. Huge portions, they never close, GREAT steak and eggs.
Medieval Times and/or Pirate’s Dinner Adventure: Dinner and an adventure show, bot

ANSWER:
Hotels: There are some hotels in Vegas on the strip that are rather inexpensive, but I'm not sure what your price range is. Mandalay Bay has an amazing pool area. It has 3 regular pools, a wave pool, and a lazy river. I found rooms for only a night. You will have to shop it around. Since 3 children are going on this trip, this is the hotel i recommend. It is very family oriented. Also the MGM Grand has a pretty nice pool area along with the Flamingo. As far as pools go, those are my top 3.As for things to see in Vegas, if your staying in Vegas 9-10 days, then you will get to see a lot! Basically what you will want to do is to go to all the hotels on the strip. Each hotel has a special attraction. There are also some free guide books you can get in Vegas which list everything to do. Here is a list of some of my favorite attractions:
1. Light and Water Fountain Show at the Bellagio
2. Fremont Street Experience
3. Sirens of TI Pirate Show at Treasure Island
4. The Adventuredome at Circus Circus (Even as teenagers you will love it. It's not kiddie rides at all. There are some pretty extreme ones!)
5. Canal Shops and Gondola Rides at the Venetian
6. Eiffel Tower Rides and Restaurant at Paris
7. The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace
8. The Rollercoaster at New York-New York
9. Huge aquarium at the Mirage
10. Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay
11. The Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand
12. The Tournament of Kings Show at The Excalibur
13. The Big Shot at the top of the Stratoshpere
14. The Botanical Gardens at the Bellagio
15. The Animal Habitat at the FlamingoThings to do during the drive: Read, watch movies on the computer, listen to music, play car games, talk, sing, draw, sleep, etc.
About your pillow and blankets idea: Remember its summertime so its really hot outside. In Vegas its about 100 degrees and your going to get hot in the car. I think you should save this idea for a winter trip. Hope this helps (:

QUESTION:
Can someone please translate this into spanish please?? thank you!?
My favourite family vacation was when we went to Las Vegas and California. My mom, dad, two sisters and my brothers went. We went on vacation during Easter holidays. It was lots of fun. We drove to Calgary. Then we went on an air plane from Calgary to Los Angeles. The flight was two hours. I sat next to my sister Sarah. I got an aisle seat and she got the window seat. We watched some movies until we landed in Los Angleles. We arrived to Los Angeles in the morning and we drove to our hotel in Anaheim. We spent the rest of the day unpacking our suitcases and exploring the city. While my sister swam in the hotel me and my brother played basketball in the basketball courts. We went to bed early that night so we could wake up early the next morning.
The next day my mom woke us up at 6am! it was so early! My mom was really excited to go to Disneyland as well. We got dressed and went downstairs to eat some breakfast. We went to Disneyland. It was so big and beautiful. We went to Disneyland for the next seven days. We went on lots o rides and and took pictures and got autographs from all of the Disney characters. My favourite ride was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I sat with my sister on that ride. It was so fast and fun. It was the best at night though. My favourite Disney character was Minnie Mouse. I met her and got a picture with her. On the last day at Disney everyone was really sad because we had to leave. I bought a Minnie Mouse stuffed animal, a Disney shirt and keychain. Everyones feet hurt so much from walking.
On our drive to Vegas we all got to relax. The drive was 5 hours. We stayed at the Palazzo hotel. We went to see the Hoover Dam on the first day. On the second day we went shopping and went to the pool side and did some swimming. The weather was not as nice in Las Vegas as it was in California, but we were still able to go swimming. We were all tired after our trip to Disneyland so we spent the rest of the time in Vegas shopping and swimming. This was my favourite holiday because it was nice to get away at Easter after spending the winter in Medicine Hat and I enjoy going away with my whole family. It was the fourth time we had been to Disneyland but we enjoyed it so much the first time that we have gone back every year.-
ANSWER:
Las vacaciones favoritas de mi familia fueron cuando fuimos a Las Vegas y California. Fueron mi madre, mi padre, mis dos hermanas y mis hermanos. Nos fuimos de vacaciones durante la Semana Santa. Fue muy divertido. Manejamos a Calgary. Luego fuimos en avión de Calgary a Los Angeles. El vuelo duró dos horas. Me senté junto a mi hermana Sarah.
My juego favorito fue Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (that's the name, you don't translate that).

QUESTION:
Have I Found My Twin Flame?
At the young age of 14 my family decided to take a vacation to Las Vegas. On our first night on the strip we went to the Rio Hotel, which has a Mardi grau theme. I was at the top level talking with a Face Mask that floated in the sky. The Mask asked me where I was from and my age. Shortly after speaking with the mask I had a tap on my back. I turned around and saw a gorgeous guy! Tall, Dark and Dimples that would make you melt. We chatted for a while and figured out we were both from Cincinnati Ohio and the same age. We exchanged e-mail address and decided we would chat more when we returned home. Upon returning home we e-mailed a few times but nothing ever developed.Years past and I was in college and ran into him in a class. We chatted and ended up going on a date. We had a good time but didn’t really have a spark. He was more into just dating, he was defiantly a ladies man to say the least. I myself had put some weight on in college and was not very secure about myself. A few weeks past and we lost touch again.
After College I got a huge hold of myself, got in shape and started looking great. With looking better I developed a better self-esteem and started to form my true self. In September I had just returned home from Miami FL. I was looking great, feeling great and decided to go out with the girls. I was at a local bar near my hometown. I was having a great time dancing on the dance floor. I heard my name announced to come up to the DJ Booth. I ran up and there he was! We had this immediate electricity. Chatted the rest of the night.. The next day he gave me a call and we decided to go out. We had the best time on our date. I felt this immediate attraction with him. This attraction defiantly never happened in the past. Five Months have past and we are two peas in a pod! Everyday we find something that we share or have in common. We have this bond I cannot even describe! People meet as and immediate say he is the male version of me! Is all of this a coincidence or have I found my twin flame??
-
ANSWER:
Oh my goodness, this totally sounds like you have found your man!
It probably didn't click as much before because you were too young and just not ready, but wow does that sound like a huge connection!I bet he feels the same way!

QUESTION:
Help for my homeless parents?
A week ago, my parents packed a couple of suitcases and moved from here on the east coast out to Las Vegas. Something happened - something gambling-related I suspect - and now they are stranded on the street in Vegas with no money. My brothers and I sent what we could, which wasn't much (definitely not enough for a hotel room) and now we are all wrung completely dry. They are the black sheep of the families they came from so it's hard to get even relatives to help. My brothers and I have a history of having to borrow money from friends to fix their mistakes and now none of us have anyone who can/will lend us anything. The American Red Cross wouldn't help because they aren't victims of a natural disaster. The church near them directed them to a homeless shelter, but the nearest shelters are too far from the hotel they just left for them to walk to. while they have a few dollars for food, there is no money for bus or cab fare. Besides, the shelters are in parts of town where they're likely to get mugged and if their cell phones get taken, we'll never know what's happening to them.My father is a Vietnam vet, but the nearest military base is an air force base (he was in the army) and they told him there was nothing they could do. He has a pension coming, but it isn't due to come in for weeks. He has used his vet status to take out loans from the military in the past, but he can't get anymore because he currently has too many out. We tried to get them a payday loan online, but got rejected because we all have terrible credit.
I am desperate. If I really can't do anything, my parents will be alone and vulnerable on the street for two weeks. My father might make it okay, but my mother is 67 years old and not in the best of health. I can't stand the thought of her shivering and starving on the street. I really don't know where else to find answers for this anymore. They're both in their late 60s and I'm terrified that they will die on the street some way or another.
Please, does anyone have any answers? What else can I do?
If I could get them, I would be on a plane right now. Unfortunately my brothers and I are rather poor and have already sent what little we could.I will try my relatives anyway, because we're desperate, but I'm not optimistic because my parents are really good at burning bridges.

ANSWER:
why don't you and your brother go pick them up and bring them home?...and then I would seek a finanical advisor to help them with their money issues...good luck

QUESTION:
Aussie travelling to USA - your suggestions?!?
My partner & I are travelling to the USA in August/September 2011 and I’d like some pointers from some locals if possible please… We wanted to do so much but after consideration we have realized that we just can’t cram it all into one trip and are best to really have a good look at a couple of places and if need be its just a good excuse to come back for a second trip. When flying to USA from Australia, you have to fly into LA before anywhere else so we might as well spend a day or two there to start with. My partner really (for some reason) doesn’t want to be in LA so just thought we could do Disneyworld and universal studios in Orlando…
Please see my “hopeful” itinerary below and let me know if you think I should can anything or add anything… thank you for all your help!
LOS ANGELES – 2 days
-Walk of Fame
-Venice Beach
-Sunset Blvd
-Rodeo DriveLAS VEGAS – 4 days
-Caesars Palace
-Treasure Island
-Bellagio Fountains
-Venetian Hotel/Casino
-M&M/Coca Cola factory
-Cirque Du Soleil (if in town at that time)
-Mandalay Bay Aquarium (maybe not if the aquarium in Miami is better?)
-Grand CanyonORLANDO – 3 days
-Disneyworld
-Seaworld
-Universal Studios
-Ripleys believe it or not
-Kennedy Space CentreMIAMI 2 – 3 days
-Metro Zoo
-Seaquarium
-Maybe do a Bahamas cruiseBALTIMORE 1 – 2 days
-My partner LOVES NFL and we are hoping once the draw comes out we might be able to catch a Baltimore game as they’re his fav team!NEW JERSEY – 3 days
-Cape May whale cruiseWhen in new jersey we will be spending time with family so they are going to do the whole “local tour guide” thing, same goes for New York City below, my dad and his partner are flying straight to LA then to NYC and going down to New Jersey for a week and then onto New York with other family for a week also doing the local tour guide thing… I don’t necessarily want to be in Jersey for a whole week so that’s why I threw Baltimore in there… not sure if a trip to see the whitehouse is worth the trouble?
NEW YORK CITY – 7+ days
-Time Square
-Statue Of Liberty
-Brooklyn Bridge
-Empire State Building
-Wall Street
-Central Park
-Rockefeller Centre
-China Town
-Soho district
-Ground Zero (which I believe has now been reinvented into a memorial park?)

We have a month maximum
Thanks!

ANSWER:
You should fly into and out of Hawaii...Two, three day trips in Hawaii....It is a long flight and Hawaii seems to be the midway point and is paradise. To US...Australia to Hawaii...From US...Denver to Hawaii...
From Hawaii, fly straight to Las Vegas...3 days...with a long flight it will be more like 2 days in LV
LV to Miami...3 days (fly)...it will really be 2 days because the flight should take up a day...
Miami to Orlando...3 days (drive)
Orlando to Baltimore...1-2 days (fly)...just to let you know, the NFL might go on strike, so that means a possibility of no games...if this happens, go to DC for 1 or 2 days...
Baltimore to NYC...5 days (train)...5 days is long enough...a lot of these things you list can be experienced in a few hours.
NYC to New Jersey...3 days (train or drive)
New Jersey to Chicago...3 days (fly)...Willis Tower, eat on the 96th floor of the Hancock Building, and many other experiences
Chicago to Denver...2 days (fly)...you have to see the Rocky Mountains
Other things...
For flights inside of the contiguous US, fly Southwest Airlines...it is good service and cheap...
